Ghana: Learn Horse Riding in Accra’s Military Equestrian Camp

Discover a unique experience in the heart of West Africa. The lively city of Accra, Ghana’s capital, is known for its safety, friendly locals, and vibrant culture. Hidden within this bustling city is a peaceful escape for horse lovers — the Burma Camp Horse Stable, where the discipline of military training meets the calm of nature.

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to ride a horse but never found the time, this two-week experience is perfect. You’ll train with experienced instructors at a professional military riding camp — the same place where I learned to ride myself. It’s a rewarding mix of confidence-building, connection, and pure joy.

Your stay will be in a modern private apartment near the camp. Getting there is easy — Uber and Bolt are available everywhere, or I can arrange a private driver for you. You can choose between one or two riding sessions per day, depending on how much time you’d like to spend in the saddle.

All experiences are halal-friendly, and you’ll have plenty of time to explore Accra — its lively markets, welcoming people, and delicious Ghanaian food.

Learn to Ride Where the Professionals Train

The Burma Camp Horse Stable is one of Accra’s best-known equestrian facilities, located right next to the historic military base. The instructors are friendly, patient, and very experienced — they’ll make sure you leave Accra as a confident and capable rider. Each horse has its own personality, and you’ll quickly develop a bond as you learn to balance, steer, and ride with ease.

The Setting

The stable is calm and beautifully maintained, with spacious stalls and a relaxed atmosphere. You’ll hear the sound of hooves, the breeze through the palm trees, and maybe even meet the resident white camel who adds a touch of charm to the place. It’s the ideal environment for both beginners and those looking to improve their skills.
